Twilight Talks

Circular Economy for Building Design: 14 Nov 2022, 17.00 - 18.00

The Green Register's early evening talks supported by Ecomerchant: together promoting ethical, healthy sustainable building materials

On the second Monday of each month The Green Register brings you our Twilight Talks - a relaxed and informal string of events on sustainable building matters to complement our regular training topics.

Each one-hour event is FREE of charge and features short talks from one or more speakers. With Q&A and discussion sessions throughout, everyone is invited to be part of the conversation. We hold Twilight talks at 5-6pm, in the sweet spot between work and dinner – so join us to nourish the mind before replenishing the body!

About this Session - Firstplanit sustainable design and specification tool

A holistic view on sustainability is even more important today. Our speaker Ankita Dwivedi, Founder of Firstplanit, will share how Firstplanit outputs help teams avoid the carbon tunnel vision.

Firstplanit is a first of its kind digital platform that makes complex green building decisions simple, clear, and quick, to help businesses meet Carbon, ESG, health and performance targets at the same time.

It's a digital tool that helps designers and specifiers to assess environmental risks - the impact of air quality, flooding, overheating, noise upon the building and occupants. And it helps users to find sustainable products for their projects that are independently analysed in terms of health, social, environmental and cost impacts.

History and people of Firstplanit:
Firstplanit started at University College London (UCL). The team working on Firstplanit bring together expertise from many fields; sustainable architecture, construction, material science, environmental modelling, data analytics, behavioural science, historic conservation, and energy engineering, digital technology and commercial strategy.

They are adept at critical and design thinking and bring an intense creative approach to problem-solving. They have synthesised their knowledge to create an unparalleled algorithm to revolutionise the built space and to promote the health of the planet.

About the Speaker

Ankita Dwivedi, Founder of Firstplanit

Ankita led Architecture and Design teams for top Fortune 100 firm projects across the globe for 20 years. Ankita studied at UCL Bartlett and supervises ‘Health wellbeing and sustainable buildings’ Master Student dissertations there. But, 5 years ago decided to leave business-as-usual behind.

Instead, she set up Firstplanit to accelerate the adoption of sensible, future-proofed, sustainable building decisions.

She has continuously researched, interrogated and innovated to understand the built environment's impact on the environment, businesses, communities and individuals. She believes there is a lot of knowledge, but it needs to be usefully applied and rapidly reach as many people as possible.
She says ‘The construction industry has the power to transform lives, and I remain fond of it. So I devote myself to transforming this industry by breaking down its walls and helping it embrace change.’
