The online WUFI® Pro Workshop provides a practical, hands-on introduction to how you can use WUFI® Pro to carry out hygrothermal numerical simulation.

WUFI® is the world-leading simulation software for understanding the risk of interstitial condensation, mould, rot and freeze-thaw in buildings.

The training includes guided use of the software, and a 6-week temporary licence of the full version of the WUFI® Pro software, as well as access to support on the online WUFI® Forum for that period.

Run alongside Green Register partners Ecological Buildings Systems, this is a series of 3 events on “A fabric first approach to healthier more energy efficient new and existing buildings”, and includes:

The first session covers moisture management, techniques and materials for internally insulating traditionally built properties with solid stone and brick walls.

Roofs, External Walls & Floors covers the various options available for refurbishing lofts, floors and ‘difficult to treat’ external solid stone and brick walls using natural insulations and products that are compatible, durable and relevant to our climate in the UK.

The final event in the series is a half-day session exploring the theory and practice of achieving higher levels of airtightness – how to ‘build tight and ventilate right’.

We spend 90% of our lives inside buildings and yet the indoor air quality is often poor. As we continue to improve the airtightness of our buildings, we need to ensure that the quality of indoor air is maintained for our health and wellbeing.

The first session in this series covers the basic principles of ventilation and look at different ventilation systems available today. Trainer Vince House of Aereco will explain how demand controlled ventilation works and why it performs as a low carbon solution when space and budget are tight.

The second session focuses on when it is right to use MVHR, good design watchpoints, making space for ducts and units, what makes MVHR perform optimally and the critical points for good installation and commissioning.

During these four sessions, you will learn what airtightness is (and isn’t), why it matters, the causes and effects of poor moisture management and current vs. future airtightness standards.

This training series highlights the importance of a collaborative approach on site and for a change in attitude to interpret airtightness designs and construct buildings that are more durable, healthy, and fit for the future.

The Green Register’s early evening talks supported by Ecomerchant: together promoting ethical, healthy sustainable building materials.

On the second Monday of each month between 5-6pm, The Green Register brings you our Twilight Talks – a relaxed and informal string of events on sustainable building matters to complement our regular training topics.

Each one-hour event is FREE of charge and features short talks from one or more speakers.  With Q&A and discussion sessions throughout, everyone is invited to be part of the conversation.

In addition to our regular suite of events, we run one-off training sessions and site visits regularly throughout the year.

Previous topics have included: ‘How Much Insulation for Efficient and Affordable Heat Pumps’, ‘The Future of Historical Windows’, and ‘An Essential Guide to Assessing Carbon in Design: RICS Whole Life Carbon Standard 2023: 2nd Edition’.

We also run site visits to unique properties across Bristol and the South West. Some site visits we have run recently include a low-carbon, city self-build; a site visit to Castle Park Energy Centre, home to the UK’s largest water source heat pump; and a timber-frame new-build.
