Historic England’s new historic building advice

It was great to see the recent Historic England guidance on how to go about adapting historic buildings to increase their energy efficiency. Whilst Historic England are rightly protective of significant heritage buildings, this has long been seen as at odds with many environmental adaptations. This advice note is very welcome therefore for all parties involved to chart a course that recognizes both historical significance and the need to adapt.

To learn more about how such approaches are put into practice, our regular Retrofitting Traditional Buildings series of three talks – next running in September & delivered by experienced practitioner Nick Heath, covers emerging research, best practice and case studies in the field of upgrading traditional and historic buildings.
