On a lovely summer’s day, Charlotte Surrey, Co-Director of The Green Register, interviewed founder, Lucy Pedler, who started the Green Register back in 2000. Lucy and Charlotte reflected on what motivated Lucy to start The Green Register, the challenges she faced and what has changed in the sustainable construction world over the last 25 years – and they also looked to the future.
Lucy says: “Overall, I’m just so proud that the Green Register continues to be one of the few independent organisations that trains people in the UK in this field…We should continue to do what we do so well which is independent training to all stakeholders in the construction industry. Building a building isn’t just the preserve of one profession it’s all professions… the more cross-disciplinary discussion we get the more likely it is we’ll get a really proper sustainable future.”
