- Assessment
This module focuses upon the principles and practical applications of insulation and airtightness. You'll learn about different types of insulation, their properties and subsequent use-cases, as well as how to install insulation to optimise its thermal performance.
After this, you’ll move on to the practical element of the module where you'll demonstrate the best cutting methods for different insulation types, from flexible insulation like woodfibre to more rigid insulation like EPS.
The principles and practices of airtightness will be introduced, with consideration to the importance of detailing in creating a continuous air barrier. Airtightness materials will be discussed, with an opportunity for hands-on learning.
The practical assessment for this module will require you to demonstrate the above, as well as use appropriate products to create a continuous air barrier and demonstrate the installation of appropriate air barrier products.
After you have completed the in-person part of this module, you will be required to complete a series of multiple-choice questions for the online assessment.
Both practical and online assessments will need to be finished before this module can be considered complete.
