In the face of rising heating bills and carbon emissions targets, more and more Herefordshire homeowners want to embark on a whole house energy retrofit or want to know that any building work they have done makes sense within a long-term energy strategy. Yet many struggle to find the expertise they need nearby.
We know that good building firms in Herefordshire are busy, with little time to seek out additional training to build the essential understanding and expertise needed to deliver high-quality retrofit.
So, we’re inviting a small number of Herefordshire builders to step into retrofit and low-energy construction through a fully-funded, tried-and-tested course from The Green Register. The Green Register’s Futureproof trainers are all experts in their field and offer a great opportunity to kickstart your knowledge and professional development.
The training
Futureproof Essentials is a clear and concise introduction to all the key principles of sustainable construction – both retrofit and newbuild - and a great springboard for delving into the subjects you are interested in learning about in more detail.
The training is online, you do it in your own time and we’ll supplement it with some face-to-face, hands-on sessions to put your learning into practice.
Any costs?
The course is free of charge to participants as it has financial support from Herefordshire’s Climate and Nature Partnership https://zerocarbon.herefordshire.gov.uk/
Who’s organising it?
It’s organised by Herefordshire Green Network’s BUILDING SENSE initiative, which brings together people, information and professional expertise to help meet the challenge of making homes comfortable year-round. We also run events and information sessions for householders and are working with Severn Wye Energy Agency on a wider Herefordshire retrofit scheme as well as with a number of local architects and building energy specialists.
