Twilight Talks
The Green Register's early evening talks supported by Ecomerchant: together promoting ethical, healthy sustainable building materials
On the second Monday of each month The Green Register brings you our Twilight Talks - a relaxed and informal string of events on sustainable building matters to complement our regular training topics.
Each one-hour event is FREE of charge and features short talks from one or more speakers. With Q&A and discussion sessions throughout, everyone is invited to be part of the conversation. We hold Twilight talks at 5-6pm, in the sweet spot between work and dinner – so join us to nourish the mind before replenishing the body!
Nomoregas
Nomoregas.org is a platform dedicated to helping people find alternative heating and gas solutions to gas boilers.
The journey began with a desire to make meaningful contributions at the intersection of geopolitics and sustainability, particularly in response to the war in Ukraine and the pressing need to combat climate change. The platform provides resources and strategies to reduce reliance on traditional fuels tailored to several building types.
Research into the most sustainable options for heating systems and retrofits has led the team to explore the effects of grid decarbonisation, prompting them to rethink pragmatic approaches to sustainability that focus on reducing embodied carbon. They have identified several new products that show great promise, especially in smaller-scale applications, and strive to implement and test them in their work. Nomoregas.org welcome collaboration, help and advice.
About the Speakers
Davide di Martino, PhD, RIBA, ARB, MArch - Nomoregas
Davide di Martino is an architect, urban designer, educator and activist. He has studied architecture in four countries and focused on several spatial topics; with research and academia always being part of his interests. From 2020 to 2023 he co-led a design unit at Cardiff University’s Masters in Architectural Design. He has practised architecture in three countries in small and medium practices, working on several types and scales of projects.
In 2018 he founded Unagru Architecture Urbanism, an architecture practice and platform for research and collaboration. The practice balances private commissions and design research, sustainability, activism, competitions and community pro-bono work. Projects range from the micro-scale to mixed-use developments, and their research and competitions focus on heritage, urban waters and sustainability.
They believe in producing knowledge through every project from inception to completion. Their passion for research has brought them to investigate and develop positions on heritage buildings and historic cities, embodied carbon, biodiversity, water management, circular economy, energy systems, and several more traditional architectural topics.
In 2022 they created nomoregas.org, a platform to advise and assist the public in finding alternative solutions to gas boilers for their homes.
Twilight Talks are supported by Ecomerchant.
