Retrofit By Stealth: How to Educate and Encourage Clients to Bring Retrofit Measures into any Client Brief

Event Details

How to bring retrofit measures into projects - whatever the clients' initial brief.

A growing number of construction professionals are dedicated to supporting the retrofit revolution - but sometimes clients don't initially realise they are part of that journey!

Join us and Louise Ciotti of Adapt Architects and UWE Bristol as she talks about the variety of retrofit jobs her practice engages in - from social housing decarbonisation to whole house zero carbon retrofit, and to what could be called 'retrofit by stealth', an approach to educating and bringing retrofit measures into projects, whatever the clients' initial brief.

During this 2-hour live online session, Louise will discuss different types of retrofit work including how to educate and encourage clients to consider retrofit, touching on grants support and engaging with SME contractors. She’ll go on to discuss two case study projects that require highly contrasting approaches to retrofit despite the same construction typology.

Louise will take you through improving the thermal performance of a Grade II Listed double-gable fronted farmhouse of solid Cotswold stone construction, versus the approach taken to a 18th Century stone cottage, with no listing protection, that was retrofitted to Passivhaus standards.

There will be time throughout the session for Louise to answer your questions on the topic.

ARB and RIBA Mandatory CPD Requirements

As of January 2024, all architects on the UK Register are required by the Architects Registration Board (ARB) to record and confirm participation in CPD to maintain registration. ARB’s CPD scheme is activity-based and is focused on learning outcomes. You can find out more about ARB’s CPD requirements here.

View or download this checklist which shows in more detail how attendance on this course can help you meet these requirements.
