Sustainable Conversion in Easton – Site Visit (Bristol)

Event Details

Join us for a 2-hour site visit with client, architect and energy consultant of a recently completed house converted from a derelict stable block in Easton, Bristol.

About the event

This derelict Stable block had previously been refused planning permission for conversion into a dwelling, but Green Trace Architects overcame those planning constraints with a carefully considered and well-designed application, also securing planning for a studio at the far end of the garden, which the contractor-client built first to use as a workshop to help build the house.

This low impact retrofit project features wood fibre insulation on the walls, Mechanical Ventilation (DCV) and an Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP), and the roof was replaced and filled with blown cellulose insulation.

The project is being assessed for AECB Carbon lite accreditation and shows how unloved buildings can be brought back to life sustainably, providing micro solutions to the need for new sustainable housing in the city.
