This two-hour session with Dr Sarah Price of Spruce Retrofit Consultancy, one of the lead authors of the standards, will provide a clear overview of the BSI Retrofit Standards Framework and the key requirements of PAS 2035 and PAS 2030.

The session will explain why these standards are important to the domestic retrofit sector, how they support a consistent approach to retrofit delivery, and how the Passivhaus (PH) and AECB standards relate to and complement the PAS framework.

Sarah will also explore a number of real-world case studies and lessons learned from applying the PAS 2035 process, providing practical insight into what works — and what can be learned from experience.

The session will cover:

• The BSI Retrofit Standards Framework and its purpose
• The key requirements of PAS 2035 and PAS 2030
• How the standards fit together within the retrofit process
• The role of Passivhaus and AECB standards alongside the PAS framework
• Case studies from real retrofit projects
• Practical lessons learned from applying PAS 2035

About the trainer

Dr Sarah Price MSci CEng MIOP - Spruce Retrofit Consultancy

Sarah has extensive experience in Passivhaus and AECB consultancy and is a Passivhaus and AECB Certifier. She has worked on over 90 certified Passivhaus dwellings across the country, and has dabbled in Passivhaus leisure centres, student accommodation, schools and more!  

​She also works with the Government, BSI and other organisations to create domestic retrofit standards, guidance and training. She is a member of the Retrofit Steering Task Group set up after the Each Home Counts review, and is the technical author for the PAS 2035/2030 retrofit standard.

Dr Sarah Price works closely with the Leeds Sustainability Institute at Leeds Beckett University to further research in building performance evaluation and retrofit.
