Paul Smith - Passivhaus Certifier, will speak from his experience as both a Passivhaus Designer, and latterly as a Certifier to demystify the process and outline his tips for success; explaining the role of the certifier and the impact of certification on project outcomes.
Discover the critical steps in the certification process, common pitfalls, best practice for documentation, and the benefits of aligning certification with project timelines. Paul will set out why collaboration and communication is key; engaging early and using digital tools to streamline the process by presenting information efficiently, with tailored advice for designers, clients and contractors.
The talk will describe how to navigate the challenges of certification; explaining common issues and their solutions, how to balance certification with design goals, and key differences between Passivhaus and EnerPHit builds.
About the speaker
Paul Smith, Director at Greengauge - Building Energy Consultants
Paul is an experienced Building Physics Consultant with over nineteen years’ experience in low energy building design and has been certified with the PHI as a Passivhaus Consultant for the past 8 years. Paul has an MSc in Sustainability and Adaptation in the Built Environment from the Centre of Alternative Technology.
He has amassed a broad range of experience and technical skills across the design and implementation of low energy products, materials, and systems and utilises a range of software and his understanding of fabric performance to deliver robust, simple building design. Paul is a qualified Passivhaus Certifier.
