What you need to know about heat pumps when retrofitting a home.

About the series

Last year, The Green Register launched our new qualification Retrofit Skills Level 2, a hybrid qualification providing foundational training for individuals and businesses looking to move into retrofit construction. We're excited to open up the practical modules for anyone to attend, providing hands-on experience to a range of skills crucial to retrofit construction.

These sessions can be attended as stand-alone events, or book onto the full series to receive a 10% discount. If you want to book onto Retrofit Skills after attending one of the practical modules, you can claim back the event rates from your Retrofit Skills registration fee! Can't make this date? We're running the same workshop in July

Hands-On: Insulation and Air-tightness for Retrofit - 3rd June, 2-5:30pm at the Create Centre, Bristol
Hands-On: Heating For Retrofit – Heat Pumps - 12th June, 9-11am at PHC Renewables, Bristol

About the event

Nigel Lancaster-Moore – heat pump expert and trainer, will use his experience and knowledge of the practical applications of building physics principles and equipment to lead a practical session where you will get to grips with air source heat pumps suitable for domestic retrofit.

Heating is one of the three core principles of retrofit, alongside insulation and ventilation; and understanding these issues present in most UK homes and how to go about addressing them are key to successful retrofit.

The training will explore how heat pumps work, different types of heat pumps, what preliminary works are required before installation, and the considerations for homeowners.

You will have the opportunity to see air source heat pumps alongside associated controls and hot water cylinders, understanding the space they require including for pipework and wiring.

The trainer and host The Green Register will be on hand to answer questions and discuss the issues throughout, so you will leave well informed to tackle your next retrofit project.
