Castle Park Energy Centre site visit: explore the UK’s largest water source heat pump

Event Details

Registration is closed for this event

The UK’s largest water source heat pump was completed in June 2022 and resides in Castle Park, Bristol. A collaboration between Bristol City Council, Goram Homes and Vital Energi, the Energy Centre forms part of the Bristol Heat Network.

The 3MW water source heat pump takes water from the nearby floating harbour and uses it to generate heat and hot water for local businesses and residents. Bristol’s heat network currently supplies over 1000 properties with low-carbon heat from a variety of sources across the city and continues to expand to new areas across the city. In 2022, the project won the “Heat Pump City of the Year” award at the European Heat Pump Association awards in Brussels.

Following the completion of the Energy Centre, a mixed-use development will be built over it with construction due to begin in 2024.

Join The Green Register for a visit to this impressive district heating facility, as we benefit from insider knowledge shared by Jason Lee, Operations Project Manager – Heat Networks at Bristol City Council.

Light refreshments will be provided.
