Austin Design Works is a family-run business led by siblings Rachael and Matthew Austin. We are based in Nailsworth in the heart of the Cotswolds but increasingly work across the county, the south-west region and beyond. The practice has been in business for over 20 years guaranteeing that we have excellent knowledge of our local area, planning precedents and a strong network of consultants, contractors and craftsmen. Our architectural services cover a very wide range of projects, varying in scale and complexity. These include the design of bespoke new build houses or re-modelling and extending existing homes. We also design buildings for commercial, educational and leisure use. Low energy design is of great importance to us and we use our expertise to create buildings that require minimal energy to run whilst also creating healthy and comfortable internal environments. We are advocates of the PassivHaus design approach and have the in-house expertise to design to this standard. We have a strong heritage in specialist education building, for example working with charities and trusts that look after autistic residential communities. We have a strong reputation in obtaining planning permission in challenging locations, for example contemporary replacement dwellings in AONB or greenbelt locations. Our Landscape services include, but are not limited to, garden and planting design, arboriculture, woodland and estate management and play spaces or recreational areas.
