Duncan Baker-Brown, director of BBM Sustainable Design in Lewes near Brighton, is the author of a thoughtful new book entitled: The Re-Use Atlas: A Designer's Guide Towards a Circular Economy
Duncan will describe how his work with re-used building materials (including the multi-award winning Brighton Waste House completed in 2014) lead him to write this book, a highly illustrated 'atlas’, taking the reader on a journey via four distinct ‘steps’ (recycling, reuse, reduce, closed loop), from a linear economy towards a system emulating the natural world, i.e, a circular economy.
The Atlas features over 25 detailed worldwide case studies describing design exemplars from the worlds of textile and fashion design, product design, interior architecture, architecture and urban design.
Duncan will explain how the book can help designers to successfully navigate and exploit the emerging field of resource management and the circular economy.
The talk will also show how each 'step' is supplemented with an in depth interview with an expert who is successfully tackling one or more of these challenges that present all designers today.
Attendees at this talk will receive a code for a discount on Duncan's Reuse Atlas.
