The Green Register and AECB CarbonLite are pleased to be working together to provide four half-day technical sessions in Bristol on the Passivhaus principles.
Although the full Passivhaus training is a fantastic way to gain an in depth understanding of all aspects of Passivhaus design, some construction professionals may not have the time or resources to be able to attend the typical Passivhaus two week course.
These afternoon sessions offer insight into all the main principles i.e. what makes a good low energy, comfortable building based on the Passivhaus standard. The training is ideal for architects and other design professionals as the focus in these courses is on design principles.
Each of the four sessions will be run by experts in the field:
Event Two: Construction Detailing, Bill Butcher
Bill will be running a Details workshop to investigate Passivhaus construction junctions and material samples. There will also be an airtightness exercise for all delegates to participate in.
About the speaker:
Bill Butcher, Director of Green Building Store and Green Building Company, Bill Butcher was project leader of the Denby Dale Passivhaus project. Originally trained as a quantity surveyor, he has over 35 years building experience, including construction of the Longwood low-energy house in the early 1990s. Through his regular fortnightly Passivhaus diary blog, written for Building.co.uk, Bill sought to make Passivhaus construction methods accessible and easily understandable for the wider construction industry. Bill is also actively campaigning to introduce the Passivhaus approach in the UK and improve the regulatory framework to facilitate the uptake of Passivhaus design.
