On the second Monday of each month The Green Register brings you our Twilight Talks - a relaxed and informal string of events on sustainable building matters to complement our regular training topics.

Each one-hour event is FREE of charge and features short talks from one or more speakers. With Q&A and discussion sessions throughout, everyone is invited to be part of the conversation. We hold Twilight talks at 5-6pm, in the sweet spot between work and dinner – so join us to nourish the mind before replenishing the body!

Insulation That Grows - Industrial Hemp and the Future of Low-Carbon Construction (Online) 

What if insulation wasn’t just a building material—but a climate solution that starts on the farm? 

IndiNature manufactures natural fibre insulation from UK-grown industrial hemp, offering a carbon-negative, high-performance alternative to conventional materials. Suitable for both retrofit and new build projects, IndiTherm® and IndiBreathe® deliver outstanding thermal and acoustic performance while supporting healthy indoor environments and revitalising rural supply chains. 

In this session, the IndiNature team will explore how bio-based materials can reduce embodied carbon, unlock funding opportunities, and meet modern building specification standards, without compromising comfort or safety.  

They’ll share insights from scaling up the UK’s first dedicated plant-fibre insulation mill and show how natural materials can help futureproof construction for people and planet. 

About the Speakers

Ele George is Industry Collaboration Lead at IndiNature, a UK manufacturer of carbon-negative hemp insulation. An award-winning sustainability engineer, she brings 20 years of experience in low-carbon construction, retrofit and regenerative design. 

Áine Scott  is an Architectural Technologist at IndiNature. Áine has a passion for sustainable construction and retrofit, particularly in historic buildings. She gained her BSc in Architectural Technology at Edinburgh Napier University and has an MSc in History, Heritage & Politics Technical Building Conservation.
