The February installment in our early evening talks supported by Ecomerchant: together promoting ethical, healthy sustainable building materials.
In the evolving landscape of sustainable practices, the fashion industry is increasingly turning to forest-based cellulosic fibres (man-made cellulosic) for responsible feedstock sourcing. This webinar, guided by a new whitepaper, empowered construction industry professionals in their pursuit of responsible forest material sourcing, emphasizing the vital role of sustainable forest management.
Our speaker, Julia Kozlik from the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC), delved into potential environmental and social risks associated with specific forest areas, elucidating forest-positive actions for mitigation. Attendees gained insights into leveraging PEFC’s sustainable forest management requirements, third-party certification, and supply chain traceability to achieve responsible sourcing objectives.

Check out our upcoming events on our Training and Events page, including:
- Whole life carbon assessment (WCLA) is becoming an increasingly important way of assessing the built environment to include both embodied and operational carbon. Join us on February 27th for our brand new ‘An Essential Guide to Assessing Carbon in Design: RICS Whole Life Carbon Standard 2023: 2nd Edition‘ training, providing a digestible update on RICS Whole Life Carbon Standard 2023 (2nd Edition).
- Our Retrofitting Traditional Buildings 2: Case Studies training on March 6th presents a range of case study projects involving traditional and historic buildings across the UK, illustrating the key principles and details required for a holistic, whole-building approach to retrofit.
- How much fabric first retrofit is needed to support efficient and affordable heat pumps? Join us and Tim Martel from AECB on March 12th to cover which aspects of the design ensure that the heat pump running cost is affordable and will go into some detail about the tools used.
- Our first site visit of the year is coming up next month: a Sustainable Timber Frame House Site Visit in North Somerset. Join Dovetail Design and Build for a site tour of a sustainable new build nestled in the Mendip Hills AONB with fantastic views. The design, by Federica Vasetti of DHV, built by Dovetail, is a highly energy-efficient family home that compliments the countryside surroundings
