Accredited Passivhaus Design (APD) has gained planning permission for two new four-bedroom homes, which will be the first Passivhaus dwellings in the London Borough of Redbridge.

The three-storey houses are on a corner plot in Ilford, East London. The clients’ brief, when appointing APD, was for a contemporary design solution, which the Redbridge planners endorsed.

The Guardian yesterday reported that renewable energy for last year has beaten global records, with an upsurge in new wind, solar and hydro plants and capacity.

Some of the facts:

• Around 147 Gigawatts of renewable electricity came online in 2015 – this is the biggest ever annual increase.

• Clean energy investment increased to £198bn – 56% of this being solar energy, and 38 % wind power.

Held at The Crystal in London, the Waves of Change event provides the opportunity to attend workshops, discussions and entertainment based around peace, sustainability and environmental issues.

Green Register member Nick Lloyd will be involved in the World Cafe workshop, which will look more specifically at eco technology, eco systems and eco solutions.
