Insulation for the Nation was not a new Musical Youth (would they still go by that name?) song, but an excellent thirty minute look at the real issues the UK faces to reduce the CO2 emissions from its homes broadcast on Radio 4’s Costing the Earth series this week.

In February, a team of 20 volunteers from Green Register members PDP London worked with the charity Trees for Cities to plant 104 saplings, creating a new urban woodland in London whilst offsetting their paper usage from 2015 - 2016.
By doing this, they hope to show that architects can and should do their part to reduce climate change. One way is by reducing the excessive use of paper.
Michelle Sanchez, the Head of PDP London's Sustainability Team explains the importance of their initiative in an excellent article.

Accredited Passivhaus Design (APD) has gained planning permission for two new four-bedroom homes, which will be the first Passivhaus dwellings in the London Borough of Redbridge.
The three-storey houses are on a corner plot in Ilford, East London. The clients’ brief, when appointing APD, was for a contemporary design solution, which the Redbridge planners endorsed.
