The Green Register's early evening talks supported by Ecomerchant: together promoting ethical, healthy sustainable building materials

On the second Monday of each month The Green Register brings you our Twilight Talks - a relaxed and informal string of events on sustainable building matters to complement our regular training topics.

Each one-hour event is FREE of charge and features short talks from one or more speakers. With Q&A and discussion sessions throughout, everyone is invited to be part of the conversation. We hold Twilight talks at 5-6pm, in the sweet spot between work and dinner – so join us to nourish the mind before replenishing the body!

Building Thermography - Art or Science? 

In recent years, we have become familiar with articles showing rainbow-coloured pictures of properties to explain thermal problems. The process of non-destructive analysis of building issues with infra-red imaging is more complicated than pointing an IR camera plug-in and clicking, and more varied than only thermal trouble-shooting.

For June's Twilight Talk, expert thermographer and trainer Mark Colyer will vividly explain the wide range of professional diagnostics that can be achieved with infra-red imagery, share how to avoid some of the pitfalls, and show us some illuminating case studies that explain why so many clients are now using this fascinating tool to investigate a wide range of building complexities.

About the Speaker

Mark Colyer - Founder & Director, Scantherm Surveys

Mark's experience of thermal imaging started around 35 years ago in the world of research and development following a masters degree in mechanical engineering. He holds a Level 3 in Thermography, is a member of IACT (International Association of Certified Thermographers) and the UKTA (UK Thermography Association). For more than 10 years, he has provided training in building thermography to hundreds of students both in the UK and abroad. In the past 15 years, Scantherm has built significant experience of building thermography and has surveyed millions of square feet of buildings in the UK, Germany, and Belgium. Surveying experience includes the whole of The Palace of Westminster to Passivhaus specification domestic and educational properties, mast and drone surveys of tower blocks across London and everything in between!
