Known as thermal bypass, air movement across, within and behind insulation increases heat loss, causes discomfort and enables mould growth. With the correct knowledge and skills, both in practice and onsite, failures in design and construction can be avoided and deliver buildings that perform as predicted.
Join us and author Mark Siddall for a live online workshop about his recently released report, Thermal Bypass Risks Technical Review.
In the workshop Mark, Principal at Lovingly Engineered Architecture Practice (LEAP), will review existing knowledge and understanding about the impact of thermal bypass and review a select number of current projects.
The workshop will explore how design and construction in our region can avoid performance gaps by addressing thermal bypass risks which arise during design and construction.
Programme
16:00 Introduction
16:05 Thermal Bypass Presentation
16:45 Q&A
17:05 Project Review
17:55 Q&A

Want expert thermal bypass input on your project?
Do you have any projects at technical design stage where some expert input on thermal bypass would be useful? We are looking for a limited number of organisations to submit advance details of a project, which Mark will review and discuss in the workshop for the purposes of shared learning.
Details to submit by 25th October are:
- plans sections elevs
- climate type (from PHI map)
