Known as thermal bypass, air movement across, within and behind insulation increases heat loss, causes discomfort and enables mould growth. With the correct knowledge and skills, both in practice and onsite, failures in design and construction can be avoided and deliver buildings that perform as predicted.

Join us and author Mark Siddall for a live online workshop about his report, Thermal Bypass Risks Technical Review.

The workshop will explore how thermal bypass risks can be addressed, and  performance gaps avoided, by adopting good design and construction practices. In the workshop Mark, Principal at Mark Siddall Consulting, will:

• review existing knowledge and understanding about the impact of thermal bypass
• showcase practical examples of best practice, and 
• give you the chance to hone your design skills so that you can eliminate thermal bypass risks

About the Speaker

Mark Siddall

An award-winning Passivhaus architect with over 35 years experience in the construction industry, Mark Siddall is one of the pioneers that brought Passivhaus to the U.K. Through his architectural practice LEAP, Mark and his team help self-builders, homeowners and communities by designing new homes and retrofits which are sensitive to the local area and reflect a high standard of architecture.

With a keen interest in building performance issues of usability and practicality inform his approach and have increasingly led to an appreciation of the need for an integrated design process. Mark is a technical advisor to the Passivhaus Trust, has delivered lectures and training in the USA, New Zealand, Germany and the UK and contributed to peer reviewed research.
