Twilight Talks
The Green Register's early evening talks supported by Ecomerchant: together promoting ethical, healthy sustainable building materials.
On the second Monday of each month The Green Register brings you our Twilight Talks - a relaxed and informal string of events on sustainable building matters to complement our regular training topics.
Each one-hour event is FREE of charge and features short talks from one or more speakers. With Q&A and discussion sessions throughout, everyone is invited to be part of the conversation. We hold Twilight talks at 5-6pm, in the sweet spot between work and dinner – so join us to nourish the mind before replenishing the body!
Introducing Mykor and MykoFoam
The Green Register is proud to welcome member Mykor to share their particular approach to decarbonising the construction industry. Co-founder Olivia Page will focus on biomass-waste-based construction materials, understanding why and how they can be used in this context.
Considering the UK government’s target to be NetZero by 2050, Mykor proposes some approaches that can already be adopted. Mykor investigates a holistic system approach to design carbon out of our building projects and studies the paramount importance of operational carbon emissions, embodied carbon and sequestered carbon in the built environment.
Olivia will then focus on Mykor's product and company mission - they manufacture insulation material made of industrial residues, mycelium, powered by biotech. Mykor is tackling 31% of global carbon emissions with one single product and envisioning a future in which buildings are built from carbon negative materials.
About the Speakers
Olivia Page, Co-Founder, Mykor
Olivia’s architectural education and experience has always focused on bio-based and sustainable materials for construction, striving to prove that it is possible to build with a variety of affordable materials options that don’t cost the planet. In January 2022, after a hiatus, Olivia and Valentina Dipietro reunited to work on Mykor full-time. Meanwhile, Olivia had been developing other innovative construction materials from wastes and working on other construction related roles in Portugal. These projects include collaborations with CRU Architects, Skrei Architects, LVMH, VerdeOeste Project Management.
Twilight Talks are supported by Ecomerchant.
