Affinity Architects is a small but creative practice with a big heart that aims to provide exceptional personal service and find design solutions that work for both client and building. Founded in 2014 by director Melanie Latham just outside the city of Salisbury in Wiltshire we focus on high quality design, specialising in alterations and modern extensions to historic and listed buildings. Melanie is passionate about modern design, but also qualified in historic building conservation and a Registered Conservation Architect with the RIBA, a member of the IHBC and has over 20 years’ experience in the construction industry. As a member of both The Green Register and the AECB, her design solutions will always consider conservation of energy and ‘green’ building, hand in hand with the conservation of historic building fabric. The aim is to ensure that old buildings find a new lease of life and a forward looking perspective, meeting the challenges of the next generation as they adapt but conserving the qualities of the historic structure. We love working closely with people to find the best possible solution for their project, and most enjoy solving complex design challenges to suit each unique situation - be that an extension to a listed building, a barn conversion, a straw bale building, or a new build house. We have good affinity with people, and work hard to find ingenious design solutions that have an affinity with the places they inhabit, and the planet on which we live.
