Twilight Talks

The Green Register's early evening talks supported by Ecomerchant: together promoting ethical, healthy sustainable building materials

The Green Register has proudly launched a new series of events. On the second Monday of each month, we’ll be running Twilight Talks - a relaxed and informal string of events on sustainable building matters to complement our regular training topics.

Each one-hour event will be FREE of charge and feature short talks from one or more speakers. With Q&A and discussion sessions throughout, everyone is invited to be part of the conversation. We’ll be holding Twilight talks at 5-6pm, in the sweet spot between work and dinner – so join us to nourish the mind before replenishing the body!

Building as if the Planet Matters - the Living Building Challenge

This session will give an overview of the enriching process for green projects through the Living Building Challenge.

The definition of 'sustainable' in the construction sector has constantly evolved since the Earth Summit in Rio in 1992, and finding a way for human activities to work in balance with the eco-system is a massive challenge.

Living Building Challenge is a 'deep green' project-based process/tool that guides teams to go much further than just minimising impact. It also has tabulated cross-walk provisions with the Well Standard for dual certification.

Join speaker Julia Bennett of The Green Register / Julia Bennett Architect to find out more about the Living Building Challenge.

Agenda

  • 5 - 5.45pm: Presentations
  • 5.45 - 6.00pm: Q&A, Discussion, Networking

About the Speaker

Julia Bennett, The Green Register / Julia Bennett Architect

Julia works both in training with The Green Register and as an Architect in her own low carbon practice in the Cotswolds. She works in several collaborations with tradespeople and practitioners in renewable heating and hot water, renewable power and airtightness to deliver projects that perform in real life. She uses natural materials as a starting point in all projects and currently has several retrofit projects and a strawbale cottage preparing for site.

Twilight Talks are supported by Ecomerchant.
