Glazing, frames and thermal bridges… how to get window specification and installation right first time – Online

Registration is closed for this event
A new 2-hour event from The Green Register

Specifying high performance windows is thankfully becoming much more commonplace but if we do not specify or install them correctly, they will not perform as expected leading to an underperforming building and money wasted in the process.

Green Building Store experts Bill Butcher and Chris Herring will guide you through the key issues relating to window design and installation, focusing on performance and thermal efficiency.

There will be plenty of time to ask Bill and Chris questions so that delegates come away with a fuller understanding of how to specify effectively and detail to avoid thermal bridging and achieve high standards of airtightness.

Topics covered include:

  • Learning from Passivhaus
  • The energy balance
  • U values
  • Psi values
  • G values
  • Glazing technology
  • The evolution of advanced glazing
  • Why triple glazing?
  • Installation & detailing (airtightness, thermal bridging & avoiding overheating)
  • The importance of good installation for performance
  • Value engineering & windows and doors
