The Many Benefits of using Lime in Retrofit Projects: theory, practice and case studies - Online

Registration is closed for this event

*Date change from original July date - now 17th September 2020*

Lime has been used for centuries in buildings in a multitude of applications (mortars, renders, lime wash etc). Lime products are less harmful to the environment and are a sustainable alternative to cement based building products - cement production is responsible for between 8-10% of global carbon emissions.

Lime allows buildings to breathe, effectively manages moisture in buildings, is easy to use and is very durable as many historic buildings with lime materials can demonstrate.

This theory-and-practice training session will give delegates a good grounding in all lime products, how and where to apply them plus a pre-recorded demonstration with live Q&A by an experienced stone mason.

Programme:

  • 08.45: Registration
  • 09.00: The range of lime products available - quicklime, lime putty, hydraulic lime, hydrated lime, lime mortars, renders and plasters - and where to use them in buildings, Simon Ayres, director of Lime Green
  • 10.00: A pre-recorded practical demonstration of applying lime products & Case Studies using lime in practice, Geraint Edwards, stone mason, Edwards Masonry.
