*SOLD OUT* Site visit to new house - built to passivhaus principles - Bristol
Come join us for a talk and tour of a new detached timber framed 3 storey house, built by Greenheart Sustainable Construction Ltd in the garden of the clients existing house!
The clients were keen to down size to a house that would be very cheap to run, very comfortable to live in and require minimal maintenance. The resultant house designed by Emmett Russell Architects applies the passivhaus principals of simple form, high levels of insulation and minimal cold bridging.
The fabric first approach to design details were developed by the team of Architect (Tom Russell), Builder (Greenheart Sustainable Construction Ltd) & Energy consultant (Piers Sadler). This approach has resulted in a pragmatic, cost effective approach from the start allowing the client to have cost certainty and Greenheart to be confident they can deliver the project on schedule.
The Structure is built from 300mm I beams with Warmcel insulation, propassiv internal racking board and externally wrapped in woodfibre. The external finish is a combination of local stone, render and zinc roof. Windows and doors by Internorm, MVHR by Green building store.
** Although not pasivhaus certified, the project is designed and built to passivhaus principles**
The session will include:
- Guided walk through the house with Q & A
- Power point from Greenheart explaining the build process with input from Tom Russell & Piers Sadler.
- Time for discussion and debate over tea & biscuits!
The open session is designed to give the delegate a detailed understanding of what Greenheart have built and why we have taken this approach including a walk through the design process, energy assessment and overall costs.
The house is due for finish in February 2020, so you are seeing the project in its closing stages with internal finishes and landscaping works well underway.
