Bite-Size Session: Designed to Perform - A Guide to Delivering Energy Efficient Homes - London
The performance gap between predicted and actual energy use in new homes has been identified as a key problem by government and industry experts.
Join trainer Tom Dollard, Head of Sustainable Design at Pollard Thomas Edwards, for this Bite-Size Session inspired by his new book Designed to Perform: an Illustrated Guide to Delivering Energy Efficient Homes.
Tom will discuss why design targets for energy consumption continue to be missed once a building is in use, often by a factor of over 200%, and will highlight clear issues and solutions to improve the detailing and construction quality of new homes.
He will provide concise technical details without oversimplifying the information, using examples from live building sites to illustrate common mistakes together with robust, buildable solutions.
Addressing issues from both the designers' and contractors' points of view, this session is accessible to all construction professionals and aims to encourage a collaborative approach towards good practice enabling you to deliver better energy performance in all types of new build homes.
Tom's book is available to order from ribabookshops.com with a special discount of £4 with the code DES2PER when you order online before 30th June 2018.
