Avoiding Interstitial Condensation in Retrofits – hygrothermal assessment at its best! London

Registration is closed for this event
This event sold out when last held in London - book now to secure your place!

A half-day seminar from expert speaker Joseph Little.

With the best intentions in the world, by adding internal wall insulation (IWI) to an existing building to improve thermal performance, construction professionals can unwittingly create a new set of problems. If you are working on a retrofit project, considering upgrading it by adding IWI and are at all concerned about the risks of interstitial condensation then this seminar is for you.

Our expert speaker is practising architect Joseph Little who is also Assistant Head of School at Dublin School of Architecture (DIT), a WUFI software trainer and co-author of Historic Scotland Technical Paper 15 - 'Assessing risks in insulation retrofits using hygrothermal software tools - heat and moisture transport in internally insulated walls'.

Joseph will discuss the findings of his research in the technical paper which will be of interest to architects, building fabric consultants, local authority heritage and conservation officers and to the craftworkers and their suppliers who seek to conserve, repair and retrofit traditional buildings. Homeowners who are engaged in energy efficient retrofits of their solid wall dwellings may also wish to attend.

This afternoon seminar goes hand in hand with a morning session Achieving Airtightness, Why and How: The need for joined up thinking for joined up building! Seminars can be attended together or separately.

Special offer - attend both seminars at the discounted rate of £99 members / £149 non-members.  Click Register Now for details.

About the speaker

Joseph Little is the principal of Joseph Little Architects and Building Life Consultancy, and also Assistant Head of School at Dublin School of Architecture (DIT). He graduated from the UCD School of Architecture in 1996 and from the Graduate School of the Environment at the Centre for Alternative Technology in 2008. Joseph set-up his own practice in 2003 when he realised that his passion for low energy, environmental building design could only be realised outside of mainstream architectural practices and launched Building Life Consultancy in February 2009.

Joseph’s consultancy has recently held WUFI® hygrothermal training accross the UK and in Dublin with Fraunhofer IBP and thermal bridge training in Dublin. He is the co-author of Historic Scotland Technical Paper 15, a significant report on hygrothermal simulation and internal insulation retrofits in Scotland which was launched on 21st September in Dublin.
